Hoover's After School Clubs are funded through an OST grant .

 

Out of School Time (OST) is funded by the ABC Community School Partnership.  Partners include Bernalillo County, the City of Albuquerque, APS, United Way of Central NM, and the Albuquerque Business Education Compact.  The objective of this partnership is to provide elementary and middle school-age children opportunities to thrive in before and/or after school time environments that encourage improved student learning, stronger families, and healthier communities.

Program Descriptions

Archery-No prior Archery knowledge is required. All equipment will be provided.

Billiards-All equipment is provided/ 5 pool tables. No prior experience is needed.

Brain POP-Get academic enrichment/help in all subjects.

Crochet-Learn how to crocket. All equipment is provided.

Dance-Learn a variety of style of dance.

Drill/Color Guard-A enrichment & extension of Hoover’s Leadership program.

Drama- Students work on improvisation and performance skills.

Best Buddies Fosters friend- ships between middle school students with & without IDD, in which they share interests, experiences, and activities. Students with IDD are often isolated and left out of social activities. Best Buddies Middle Schools helps to create an inclusive middle school culture for all students.

GEMS- (Girls Empowered in Middle School): This club will focus on ways girls can find and use the power and the passion within them to build their self-confidence.

Origami-Learn the Japanese art of folding paper.

Strategic Board Games-Have fun playing a multitude of games.

Show Choir-Come sing & learn choregraphed moves.

Piano-Learn how to play piano in a group setting. Each will have their own lap top keyboard to use. Golf-Learn how to play golf. Clubs will be needed.
